Toronto Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre

Dr. Joseph Chen demonstrates the cochlear implantation on a 35 year old man who has Cogan’s syndrome and received his first implant in 2010, and now he receives his second implant for bilateral implantation. SYNCHRONY PIN implant and FLEX28 electrode is used for this patient.

Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast

Dr. Toner implants a BONEBRIDGE (BCI 601) in a 9 year old boy suffering from single sided deafness. The device is implanted on the right (deaf) side and the BC-FMT (transducer) is placed in a position posterior to the external auditory canal and inferior to the temporal line.

Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge

Dr. Donnelly performs a bilateral VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE (VORP 503) implantation in an 11 year old male patient suffering from bilateral moderate conductive hearing loss due to meatal stenosis. Patient previously had been rehabilitated with percutaneous bone conduction devices, but due to multiple revision surgeries patient and his parents asked for an intact skin solution. Dr. Donnelly uses a surgical technique which sees the FMT (transducer) being placed on the head of the stapes. For the attachment of the FMT to the head of the stapes he uses a CliP-Coupler.

Kuopio University Hospital

Dr. Aarno Dietz demonstrates a supra-meatal cochlear implant approach on local anaesthesia for an 84 year old female patient. For this case, FORM24 electrode array together with SYNCHRONY PIN implant are used for better control to complete electrode insertion through supra-meatus.

Dr. Frenzel implants a VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE (VORP 503) in a 8 year old female patient suffering from bilateral conductive hearing loss due to microtia. In this video he is implanting the left side, but the patient will also receive a VSB on the other side. Dr. Frenzel uses a surgical technique which sees the FMT (transducer) being placed on the head of the stapes. For the attachment of the FMT to the head of the stapes he uses a CliP-Coupler.
